my greetings for all the people that worked hard to get this great site up and running and this site have open my appetite to share my knowledge with the good people working and visiting this site and i'm very interested in working with linux so all my contribution will be in the linux side of the site and i wish from all the lovers of this site to send me their notices and questions about linux or any other problems that they may face with their linux boxes and i figure out that the first step to deal with is the installation problem so i will send out two versions the first one is the english version and the next one is the translated version from the guide and i wish that this guide will satisfy your needs

in linux you have to load the hard disk partitions into mount points
mount points are folders on the file systemfor example /mnt
so you have to define the following things:

the partition type
fat32 or NTFS or ext3 or hpfs or .......etc
the mount point
a folder on your system
permissions and options

all of the above are stated in the fstab file found in the etc folderin the / filesystem

for example :
i had the following configuration 3 partitions all are fat32 (called vfat on linux) and 1 etx3 partition containing the / file sytem and one swap partition
