Tip:   The EL expression for the parameter values uses the dollar sign ($) because these expressions need to be resolved eagerly, so that the result is returned immediately, as the page is rendered. Most EL expressions in a JSF application use the hash sign (#), which defers the expression evaluation so that the model is prepared before the values are accessed.

While the binding expressions in the page definition file can use either a dollar sign ($) or hash sign (#) prefix, the EL expressions in JSF pages can only use the hash sign (#) prefix.
