Consider the following SRS for a system to manage research information for Al-Quds university ,

the following may be a list of proposed requirements for the system:

• The system must have the ability to capture information about all journal research papers

produced by members of staff at the university

• The system must have the ability to capture information about research student completions

• The system must have the ability to capture information about all research grants submitted to

external research bodies

• The system must have the ability to provide information on active research staff in the

university

• The system should enable management in the university to monitor the research

performance of academic departments

• The system must have the ability to capture information about research income

achieved by the university

• The system should enable academic departments to monitor their research

activity

• The system must have the ability to capture information about all research

papers given at conferences by members of staff of the university

• The system should be able to generate information for use in reports provided

for external agencies, research reports, brochures etc

• The system must have the ability to capture information about research student

supervision

• The system must have the ability to capture information about all books or chapters

in books produced by members of staff at the university

• The system should enable academic research coordinators to maintain records

of research students, publications, grants etc.

• The system must have the ability to capture information about research student

Progression

Question 1

Construct the Entity-Relationship diagram (ER).

Question 2

Construct the Enhanced Entity-Relationship diagram (EER).

Question 3

Map the EER to Relational Database Model .

Question 4

Generate the SQL script that to be used to create the EER in DBMS.

Question5

Using Normalization techniques Validate the EER Relations to be in 3NF.
