The information system we are interested in is defined by the following:

At the end of each term, a student may receive a final course grade of A, B, C, D, or F. In deriving the student's final course grade, the instructor uses three phases:

Phase 1: Student deprived from future exam (Hirman)
If a student has been absent from the course more than 6 times (25%) and more than 3 times in the labs he/she will be deprived from any future examination and will be withdrawn from the course.
A last chance might be given to this student and permits him to pass the remaining exam(s) if he/she handwrite a letter to the instructor in which he/she accepts being absent more than 25% and ask for a favor to pass the remaining exams. By doing so he/she must state in the letter that he/she accepts not to be eligible to any more extra help like the other students as explain below i.e. he/she must get at least an average mark of 60/100 to pass the course.

Phase 2: For all the students, an initial grade will be given to each students which is determined in the following manner:

A student who has received a total of no lower than 95 percent will receive an initial grade of A+ for the course.
A student who has scored a total of no lower than 90 percent will receive an initial grade of A for the course.
A student who has received a total of no lower than 85 percent will receive an initial grade of B+ for the course.
A student who has scored a total of no lower than 80 percent will receive an initial grade of B for the course.
A student who has scored a total of no lower than 75 percent will receive an initial grade of C+ for the course.
A student who has scored a total of no lower than 70 percent will receive an initial grade of C for the course.
A student who has scored a total of no lower than 65 percent will receive an initial grade of D+ for the course.
A student who has scored a total of no lower than 60 percent will receive an initial grade of D for the course.
Phase 3:
Once the instructor has determined the initial course grade for the student, the final course grade will be determined. For this the instructor will consider the following:
• One bonus point will be given to the students if he/she has been absent no more than 2 times in the course
• One bonus point will be given to the students if he/she has been absent no more than 1 times in the lab
• One bonus point will be given to the student if the final exam mark is higher than the midterm exam
• One bonus point will be given to the students if the marks of the project and Labs are both above 15.
Up to a total of 4 points will be added to the students initial marks and might permit him/her to get letter grade higher than his/her initial course grade (for example, an C+ will become a , Otherwise the student's final course grade will be the same as his or her initial course
