GOALS

The goal of this assignment is to practice the administration of an oracle database, it gives the student an opportunity to use the information in the course on how to get information on existing database and how to manipulate its physical files.
The student must:
-	Know how to use administrative tools like DBCA
-	Study the available views
-	Study the physical structure of the database
-	Know how to handle the special tablespaces


HOMEWORK TEXT

You are asked to create an Oracle database on a server with the following specifications:
-	3 disk Drives (C:, D;, E:)
-	1 Mb Ram
-	Widnows 2003 server 
We suppose that you use the "Data Base Configuration Assistance" to create it and you select a general purpose database without modifying default choices using the following choices:
-	Global Database name: Your group number "G21" for example
-	Dedicated server mode
-	Custom memory
-	Default character set
-	No archive log mode
-	Oracle_base = C:\Oracle
-	Oracle_home = C:\Oracle\ora92
-	Don’t change any file location


REQUESTS:

1.	Create the database with DBCA and deliver its "Html summery file"
2.	Log Into SQL*PLUS and write instructions to do the followings:
2.1	Get the tablespaces Names
2.2	Get the data files names
2.3	Get the Control files paths
2.4	Get the Redo files paths
2.5	Get the memory details: Data buffer cache, log buffer cache, and shared pool.
3.	Write all the instructions needed to distribute the control files on the three disk drives.
4.	Write all the instructions needed to add 2 members to the redo log group in a way that each member will be on different disk drive.
5.	Write all the instructions needed to distribute the data files in the following manner:
5.1	Data file of the System tablespace on the D: drive
5.2	Data file of the Temp tablespace on the D: Drive
5.3	Data file of the Undo tablespace on the E: Drive
6.	Add new data file to system tablespce
7.	Add another temporary tablespace and make it the default temporary tablespace



DELIVERABLES

1-	Written answers for the required questions
2-	The DBCA "Summery html file" for the created Database
3-	Use the spool utility of the SQL PLUS to get text file for the Q2 instructions and output. And deliver the resulting file in addition to the word file.


REMARKS

1-	Try to express your ideas in a simple manner, without too much writing.
2-	Any oracle instructions should be written in SQL. Please be precise.
3-	For the steps that require operating system actions, write the step only without instruction. Example: copy the file "c:\oracle\...." to the folder "d:\oracle\..."
4-	Students should write their names and identifiers clearly in the beginning of their assignments.
5-	Each student must upload the assignment in his ISIS account.
6-	No assignment will be accepted by email.
7-	The files of the deliverables should be grouped in one zipped folder.
8-	The zipped file should be named by the names of the students.
