i want to know how to search in the table with concern to upper case or lower case

i want to bring me back both
i wrote this code but if i know a part of the name only as follow

[/يسار]:

for search with a part of the name:
select empno,ename,sal
from emp
where ename like
'sm%';[يسار]

for bring back both names in upper and lower:

[/يسار]

select empno,ename,sal[يسار]

from emp

[/يسار]

where upper (ename)=upper('smith');

but i cannot do it both can any one help me plz

take this for the first

select empno,ename,sal
from emp where lower(ename) like lower('sm%')

or

select empno,ename,sal
from emp where upper(ename) like upper('sm%')

but second correct try again
