our application is developed using forms and reports (10.1.2.3) deployed on
application server (forms and reports 10.1.2.3).Our database is 9.2.0.8 on unix

we have a in-house developed mail system (incoming-outgoing). We have a customer
request to enhance the system to inform/alert the end-user when ever he receive a
new mail, like it shows in Microsoft outlook when you receive a mail.

At the database level we have only one database user. We have our own users table for
the application.

Any ideas to implement the above.
