السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،،
many times i faced aproblem with oracle when installed on winXP..when i try to login to SQL PLUS, i can't and get the error message ( Oracle not available ),
i found some thing that may help solving that problem, which is :
try to connect with account:
user name: internal
password : oracle
this will connect you to an idle instance
then write the command:
SQL> startup
this may solve that problem..
note:
installing winXP service pack 2 may help avoiding that problem..but not all the time.

يااخي مافي مشكله ولا شي , اوراكل بتقول انه اصدار اوراكل 9i and 10g هما المتوافقين فقط مع الويندوز

اكس بي بروفيشنال فقط , لكن البعض ينزل اوراكل 8i وتظهر له احيانا بعض المشاكل , اكيد اوراكل ماقالت انه الاوراكل

9i and 10g هما فقط المتوافقين مع الاكس بي الا بعد تجارب واختبارات عديده .

open the DBA studio then connect as sys/change_on_install as sysdba
then click on the database node and click on your database, choose start up database
