I think you better use Standby Database to be used in time of failure of primary database

Hello Sara,
to protect your database against failures you have:
1- make your own backup strtategy for your database and I advise you to use RMAN to backup your database and in time of failure you will restore backup of the failed part of the database
2- create a standby database for your primary database to copy updates from primary db to standby db and in time of great failure of your primary database you just make a switchover to your standby database to be the primary till you recover the old primary
standby database is a very usefull High Availability solution for oracle databases
to setup a standby database you will have 2 identical database servers (same operating system-same hardware-same oracle version)
