I have oracle 9i DB installed on server with 16 GB, unable to define SGA more than 2 GB, it seems there is a limit = 2GB is that right or i can define more than 8GB ?

I think it means that your server is 32bit. is it right?
and what about you operating system?

Yes it is 32bit server , and the OS is windows 2003 dell server

هذه مشكلة .. لأن أوراكل لا تدعم اكثر من 4GB بالنسبة لـ Windows 32bit و لكن اعتقد أن هذه المشكلة لها حل
و من وجهة نظرى الشخصية أنك بدلا من أن تبذل جهدا فى هذه الطريقة .. وفر هذا الجهد لتبذله Migration to Linux or Unix
هذا أفضل بكثير من نواحى عدة : Performance and stability and more.. that because oracle recommended this Operating systems

و اليك ما وجدته أثناء البحث عن الموضوع

there's an O/S limit in Windows 32bit that it can see only 4GB of memory allocated even if the memory allocated is more than 4GB.

1-so you need to use VLM (very Large Memory) configuration to let your Windows can see all the memory allocated above the 4GB

2-to solve this issue you can see the metalink notes 342080.1 , 225349.1

3-after configuring the VLM on your operating system you need to set the AWE_WINDOW_MEMORY parameter in your Environment to a proper value or your database will not start.

4-if you use this configuration you will not be able to use the Automatic Memory Management Feature in 10g
and you will have to set all the SGA memory parameters manually

انا وجدت الحل على موقع اوراكل

توجد خاصية اسمها VLM بمعني Very Large Memory و هي عباره عن كود صغير يكتب فى ال Boot.ini الخاص بالويندوز + بعض الخطوات الصغيرة فى ال Initialization parameters و شكرا و الجهاز يشوف ال 4 و 8 جيجا رام و اكيد ال16
