To add a custom report to Oracle Application so many standard steps should be done.

1.Register a new application in Oracle application and give it a short name
in System administrator>Application >Register

2.Put your custom report under the new modules path or under any standard module (Like Payables AP as example but this is not recommended)
$AP_TOP/reports/11.5.0/US and $AP_TOP/reports/11.5.0/AR

3.Go to system administrator>Concurrent>Program>Executable
Define the shortname of the report (Case sensitive)

4.Go to system administrator>Concurrent>Program>Define
Define the report name and the report parameter and all required fields

5.Finally add the report under a request group in order to be seen in the list of reports in the user's report list , you can do that by Security>Responsibility>Request
and add a record for the report in the request Group

Custom Reports Integration in Oracle Applications:
This document can be used as a reference document. Although I have tried to provide all the required information to deploy a report with the help of screens but may be still some information is not included in this document so you will have to get further information from Oracle documents provided on CD.

Pre requisites
o Oracle Reports Builder 6i with latest patch applied
o Windows XP client
o Oracle Applications 11.5.10.2 (It will also work for older versions as well)
o Access to deploy reports and copy report on server.

Step - 1
To demonstrate the deployment I have developed a very simple listing report with one parameter.

Step - 2
Now copy the report to respective folder on the server. Here I have copied the report in GL reports folder oracle/visappl/gl/11.5.0/reports/US/CGLTESTREP.rep.

I have used “C” for custom “GL” for General Ledger and “TESTREP” to identify the report. Please be careful as Linux is case sensitive and reports builder by default keeps extension “rep” to capital “REP” so you will have to keep it in small letter while on Windows there will be no issue.

After copying to server I have used ls command to check the existence of report.

oracle/visappl/gl/11.5.0/reports/US>ls -l CGLTESTREP.rdf
-rwxr--r-- 1 oracle oinstall 53248 Jun 8 13:09 CGLTESTREP.rdf
VIS-/u01/oracle/visappl/gl/11.5.0/reports/US>

Step - 3
The next step is to login to Oracle Applications with System Administrator Responsibility and perform the step as numbers in the following screen,

1. Concurrent > Program > Executable
2. Concurrent > Program > Define
3. Security > Responsibility > Define
4. Security > Responsibility > Request

Step - 4
Provide the required information in the following screen and save the data. Here short name and execution file name is the name of report.

Step - 5
After registering the program executable now the next is to register it as concurrent program. Here we will also define all parameters to be passed to the report. Again in the following screen short name and executable name are the report name we want to deploy. Here you can set your desired settings like output format which are HTML, PCL, PDF, PostScript, Text and XML. I have selected Text. While developing reports use the draft as template so to keep text based reports.

Now we will move to define Parameters of report by clicking the button “Parameters” in the right bottom of the above screen.

Step - 6
The next is to define all parameters as in this test report I have used only one parameter to be passed to report. See the Token in Step 1.

Sr. # Parameter Name Value Set Default Type Default Value Prompt Token
10 Set of Book ID GL_SRS_NULL_NUM Profile GL_SET_OF_BKS_ID Set Of Book ID P_SET_OF_BOOKS_ID

Step - 7
Now the next question is who can access this report? To do so we have to assign a Request Group which in this case is “GL Concurrent program Group” of “General Ledger Super user”? See the red lined test box in the following screen. Copy or note the name of request group and move to next step.

Step - 8
Query and paste the name of group copied from last screen. Create a record under requests and provide the name (not physical of report file) of report and save the data.

Step - 9
Now what is next……hmmmm…..
We have completed the task and now time to check the running report. Here notice that default value is displayed of the current responsibility as we set in the Step 6 above.

Step - 10
Here is the output displayed in Internet Explorer.
