brother this is a big subjects
you re asking about the oracle inventory from the functional side and the technical side (schema)
what i can do for you is to tell you where you can get this information
first as usual the user guide for the inventory module and this can be downloaded from www.oracle.com\documentation
as for the the schema of the inv module you can simply go to the etrm from the metalink for the base tables stucture
anyway the main table is the mtl_material_transactions
this is used to store all the transactions costed or non costed and this can be identified by the costed_flag where null means costed and N means noncosted if it was costed then another entry is made in the mtl_transaction_accounts table correspoding to the transaction in the mtl_material_transactions
but there are many other tables and many other functionalities that i can't go through that easily .
you can refer to the user guides and incase of any questions post them here and we will answer them
