Applying Patches is a painfull process sometimes, and depending on the platform, the release of the Application, you have first to enable Maintenance mode through Adadmin, You should make sure that all pre-requisite patches for the patch have been applied. then you can start applying you patch using adpatch utility, If you need further information please do not hesitate.
