I assume that u r working in windows environment

So, in the Oracle server make sure that the Listner Service is running.

In the clients PC check that the NetEasy is configfured prperly.

You can try using "TNSPING XYZ" from command prombt. where XYZ is the name you assigned to the Neteasy

I hope these will help u

Ensure that the supplied destination address matches one of the addresses used by the listener. Compare the TNSNAMES.ORA entry with the appropriate LISTENER.ORA file (or TNSNAV.ORA if the connection is to go by way of an Interchange). Start the listener on the remote machine.

first i'd like to thank you for this respons , but
i use one machine i mean oracle 9i installed on my machine , not on remote PC ,
oracle edition is 9i on XP Home edition environment and i use norton 2003 (i don't know why u ask about norton or firewall) by the way i dont know what happen if i do any thing for example open OEM and connect to DB regularly then after 2 or 10 seconds the TNS encounter an error then stop automatically, i ried to start it again but after some of minuts TNS stoped automatically.

(i need to know what is this error and how to solve it) the error number i wrote it above.
Thanks for your interesting.

I looked around and found there r a lot of complains about running Oracle 9i on Windows Xp home edition. It turned out that Oracle 9i is not supported on Xp home edition but Profession edition. This is mentioned in this metalink article (Note #161546.1)

https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/...T&p_id=161546.1

or this article

http://www.dbforums.com/t970395.html

So, it might save u time if u upgrade to XP professional edition.

I hope that will help u

hello every body i tried to do every thing to solve TNS LISTENER but it still have an error
and i removed my operating system and install it again but the problem still running.

:D

So, now you have windows 2000 and still the listener service is not running? is that correct.

Or does the TNSlistner starts then stop?

Did you find any entry in the event viewer (for application or system) in windows?

Also, what is the service pack you installed in windows is it 4?

May be after you give us feedback on these points, we would come up with a solution.

First; i use Windows XP professional service pack 2.

second; Yes TNS listener starts and then stopped automatically.

And third; Yes i found an Error and warning in the event viewer
(All process in instance orcl stopped.
& Instance orcl has been terminated.) yes i've these warnings and errors.

sorry for annoying you.

:(

that's great we could have a leading thread from there. Would you post the entries you find in the event viewer or the error number. Also, when you installed Oracle in this PC where you logged on as Administrator or does that user have administrative priviliages in windows.

Finally stop appologizing :D it's not annoying it's just having fun and sharing knowledge.
